MARAWI CITY—The provincial government of Lanao del Sur is wary of fake news finding conduits over extended grapevine on local networks of two-way radio groups.

The concern was timely raised in the quarterly meeting of the Provincial Information Office (PIO) with the Lanao del Sur Two-Way Radio groups representatives on Thursday September 29 2022 at the Executive Conference Room of the New Capitol Complex here.
PIO chief Jennie Alonto Tamano said the meeting was an occasion to discuss information dissemination ethics with two-way radio groups in the province. Information updates and announcements are best conveyed via two-way radio in many parts of Lanao del Sur.
Saksi Representative Japar Hadji Rauf noted that fake news are often circulated via two-way radio, saying he raised the concern as a primary issue, even as he emphasized the roles of responsible frequency holders in addressing this problem.
All frequencies present during the meeting committed to support the PIO in preventing the spread of fake news, and in disseminating accurate information in the community level.
Tamano said they also discussed reorganization among representatives of two-way radio groups in the province.
“Rest assure of our cooperation and help in the dissemination of good information and updates for legitimate news,” Hadji Rauf said in the vernacular.
“Trust us also in the Pilandok Frequency, God-Willing, in helping spread the welfare in the land,” pledged Pilandok representative Achmed Ayaon in the vernacular.
Ali “Boy London” Abdul of Marinao Frequency also assured the PIO that their group would only disseminate information coming from the provincial government and assured that only true information will be disseminated by their radio frequency group.
Kadaffy Daromimbang of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, and leader of the New Generation group said in closing that: “We need your help and cooperation as they have been advised to uphold the purpose of the meeting.
Meanwhile, Governor Dr. Mamintal Alonto Adiong said one of the primary development agenda of his first 100 days since the May elections, is to support the immediate implementation of the Marawi Compensation Law.
Tamano said that while the Marawi Compensation Board is yet to be organized, Governor Adiong, through the Provincial Legal Services and in partnership with the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission LDS Office, and City Government of Marawi, has initiated the drafting of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) to assist the National Agencies mandated to draft the IRR, in order to expedite the implementation.
Because of this, the Marawi Compensation Board is assured that a working draft is ready for its consideration, Tamano said.“The (IRR) writers tasked by the governor have concluded their three-day writeshop held at Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. We thank our invited writers/participants from MSU College of Law, members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Lanao del Sur Chapter, members of the Integrated Shariah Bar of the Philippines, NCMF Lanao Legal, Asec. Felix Castro of Task Force Bangon Marawi, Raheema Inc. Executive Director Baicon Nuska who volunteered their time and knowledge for the success of this event,” Tamano said.
