MANILA — The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) on Thursday, April 13, hosted an iftar event at its headquarters in Quezon City, inviting various dignitaries to break their fast and enjoy a meal together. This annual event is a traditional gathering for Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan, where they break their fast at sunset with family and friends.
The NCMF, a government agency tasked with promoting and protecting the rights of Muslim Filipinos, organized the iftar as a way to strengthen solidarity and promote understanding between the Muslim community and non-Muslims. The event was attended by government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and other prominent figures in Philippine society.



The iftar started with the traditional breaking of the fast, where attendees were offered dates and water to break their fast.
NCMF Secretary, Guiling Mamondiong, who emphasized the importance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual reflection and renewal received his guests.
After the prayer, attendees enjoyed a sumptuous meal of traditional Filipino and Middle Eastern dishes, including randang, biryani, kebabs, and various salads. The atmosphere was lively, with attendees engaging in conversation and enjoying each other’s company.
In his remarks, Secretary Guiling Mamondiong thanked the guests for their attendance and emphasized the importance of promoting peace and understanding between different communities in the Philippines. He also expressed gratitude to the government for its support of the Muslim community and for recognizing the contributions of Muslim Filipinos to the country.
Overall, the iftar hosted by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos was a successful event that brought together people from different backgrounds to share in the spirit of Ramadan and promote understanding and solidarity between different communities in the Philippines.
