I didn’t know there was a good place in the Islamic City of Marawi in Lanao del Sur where one or two or a family can comfortably stay for a night or more, or for a family or group to celebrate classical occasions such as weddings, seminars, trainings, parties, and other gatherings with motifs uniquely found in the Islamic city.

It’s ironic for someone like me who hails from, nay, native of the city but didn’t know there was such a beautiful hotel equipped with function halls and other amenities.

I didn’t know there was this Ridge Hotel until it was told to me by a friend who happened to have spent a few nights and days there for a foreign-sponsor event that he was a part of.

He said, there’s no problem now for tourists to spend a couple of days in the Islamic city to enjoy its coolness and beauty and the admirable hospitality of the locals.

He said it’s suitable for business gathering too.

The Ridge Hotel, he stressed, is the best place for their own liking and purposes.

Thus, when we went home to Marawi on April 20, to celebrate the Eid’l Fitr on April 22, I took the opportunity of staying in the hotel with my husband and daughter..

The Ridge Hotel is indeed a good spot. It’s purposefully placed along Sagonsongan Diversion Road, to give a relaxed and contented view of the beautiful sceneries in the surrounding.

It’s only a few minutes’ drive to the busy downtown where one can enjoy shopping items which are unique among Maranaos; or visit public places for sight-seeing.

The hotel is also very near to the renowned Mindanao State University (MSU) Main Campus.

And yes, it’s only a few miles from the famous Lake Lanao, the second largest lake in the country, and one of world’s ancient lakes. (to be continued)
