
ILIGAN CITY – The Sixteen Royal Houses of Lanao (Sapolo ago Nem a Panoroganan sa Ranao) have recently elected Sultan Monadato M. Mangadang of the Royal House of Masiu as their new chairman.
Sultan Sailanie Benito of the Royal House of Pagayawan said the election of Sultan Mangadang was a unanimous decision of the entire Royal Houses (Panoroganan) in a consultative and re-organizational meeting held on Sept. 13, 2023.
Fourteen out of the 16 Royal Sultanates voted in favor of Sultan Mangadang and without any opposition. Sultan Sailanie said they expressed full support to the new chairman.
Maranao royal traditions divided Lanao royal regions into four Divisions or Prefectures known as Pat a Phangampong a Ranao, namely, Bayabao, Masiu, Unayan and Baloi.
Phangampong a Bayabao
Bayabao is divided into three principalities namely, Poona Bayabao, Lumba Bayabao and Mala Bayabao, each has its own Panoroganan.
Poona Bayabao has three Panoroganan: Sultan sa Bansayan, Sultan sa Rogan, and Sultan sa Taporog; Lumba Bayabao has four: Sultan sa Minitupad, Sultan sa Borocot, Sultan sa Bacolod and Sultan sa Maribo; and Mala Bayabao has two: Sultan sa Ramain and Sultan sa Ditsaan.

a Masiu
The Division or Prefecture of Masiu has two Panoroganan: Sultan sa Masiu and Datu a Cabugatan sa Masiu. It is to be noted that the only non-sultanate title who is a member of the 16 Panoroganan is the Datu a Cabugatan sa Masiu, all the rest are called Sultans.
Phangampong a Unayan
There are three principalities comprising Unayan. They are Sebangan (Eastern) a Unayan and Sedepan (Western) a Unayan.
Sebangan a Unayan has two Panoroganan, namely, Sultan sa Butig and Sulutan sa Dumalundong. Sedepan a Unayan has also two, namely, Sultan sa Bayang and Sultan sa Pagayawan.
Phangampong a Baloi
Baloi is a lone Phangampong (Division or Prefecture) has one Panoroganan, the Sultan of Baloi.
