BARMM Gov’t Hosts Heartwarming Children’s Night

COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Government hosted a heartwarming event for children on Friday night at the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) here, highlighting the significance of nurturing an environment filled with love and care.

Children’s Night, which was also dedicated to the yateem or orphaned children, is a joyful celebration, spearheaded by the Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT), aimed at providing children with memorable and meaningful experiences during this special time.

“This activity is quite tailored-fit to the deepest teaching of Ramadan. Not to mention that the primary recipients of our generosity are the yateem or orphan,” said MTIT Minister Abuamri Taddik.

Activities included Qur’an reading, gift-giving, games, and storytelling sessions that were tailored to introduce children to the significance of Ramadan.

The tradition, which started in 2022, aims to bring joy to children through “Hadiya” offerings, expressing love and seeking Allah’s pleasure.

The orphanages Darulhanan Liril-Ayatil Aytam Wal Yatemat and Darulmuhsineen For Educational and Orphans Care were invited to the said event. They also received gifts from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD).

Helping orphans is considered a significant good deed in Islam

“We believe that these children are in so much need of affection, attention, and care, especially during Ramadan,” the minister added.

Moreover, the Ministry of Health (MOH) organized a measles vaccination drive to ensure the health and well-being of the numerous children in attendance.

In addition to fasting and prayer during the sacred month of Ramadan, extending sadaqah (charity) to orphaned children stands as a highly recommended act of kindness in Islam. (Story from Johaira Sahidala/BIO)
