NPC Advisory: Agus 4 Dam Maintenance and Safety Precautions


ILIGAN CITY — The National Power Corporation (NPC) has announced that Agus 4 hydroelectric power plant will be conducting a major corrective maintenance that involves dry repair activity from June 13, 2024, starting at 8:00 AM, until August 2, 2024.

In a statement, NPC said a significant volume of water is expected to be released from the Agus 4 Dam/Reservoir (Lake Baloi) through its plant’s spillway gates during this period.

It said, “As a precaution and for everyone’s safety, we urge all residents to exercise extreme caution while using the Agus riverside downstream of the Agus 4 Dam (Lake Baloi) within three days from the commencement of the activity,” adding that the plant will utilize sirens or conduct field inspections to raise awareness and caution individuals near the affected areas and riverside during this water release.

Residents are advised to avoid the following affected areas: Agus 4 Power intake area (near Bgy. Nangka, Baloi); Agus 4 Spillway area (near Bgy. Nangka, Bgy. Matampay, and Bgy. Maria Cristina, Baloi); Agus 4 Tailrace area (near Bgy. Ditucalan and Bgy. Maria Cristina, Iligan City)
