Every time I heard a relative achieving in any major discipline, I am elated and grateful. I couldn’t even hide the joy in me. So, when I read about my relative who completed a Juris Doctor degree, I couldn’t help but write a brief eulogy for her.
FROM A DISTANCE

A day ago, I read a report about a relative in Bayang who completed her Juris Doctor, her third degree from a prestigious school in Manila. She is Nesreen Cadar Hamdag Mama-o Abdurauf, the daughter of my cousin, Datu Alex Mamao, former LTO Regional Director, and present Cabugatan sa Bayang.
The report was posted on Facebook by a colleague, Dr. Abdul Hannan Tago, well-known Filipino journalist in the Middle East during his stint with the Arab News as senior reporter.

It is with great joy and heartfelt congratulations that we celebrated yesterday the remarkable achievement of Nesreen Cadar Hamdag Mama-o Abdurauf, who has earned the distinguished title of Juris Doctor from San Sebastian. Her journey is a testament to perseverance, dedication, and the unwavering support of her loving family.
Nesreen’s story is one of resilience and determination. Despite the challenges and sacrifices faced, she not only pursued but excelled in her educational endeavors, earning three degrees, two of them she obtained while working. Her accomplishments are a source of immense pride, not just for her parents and siblings but for the entire Muslim and Maranao communities. She exemplifies the strength and potential that resides within our people.
