MANILA, Philippines – In a remarkable display of international solidarity and compassion, the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended significant humanitarian assistance to families affected by Super Typhoon Carina. This generous support underscores the UAE’s commitment to global humanitarian efforts and strengthens the enduring friendship between the UAE and the Philippines.
At a turnover ceremony held on Tuesday, attended by prominent officials including DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Special Envoy to the UAE Kathryna Yu-Pimentel, and His Excellency Mohamed Obaid Salem Alqataam Alzabi, UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, the UAE’s substantial donation was formally handed over. This event highlighted the critical role of international partnerships in providing swift relief to those in need.

Under the initiatives and efforts of the Ulama Supreme Council of the Philippines for Peace and Development (USCPD), the SPMUDA International Organization for Peace and Development, and the Bangsamoro Federal Business Council (BFBCI), there has been a concerted push to secure international aid. These organizations are now in constant contact with global humanitarian entities, including the World Muslim League in Saudi Arabia, for potential assistance.
A Heartfelt Appreciation from Local Organizations
The Bangsamoro Federal Business Council (BFBCI), SPMUDA International Organization for Peace and Development, and the Ulama Supreme Council of the Philippines for Peace and Development (USCPPD) have expressed profound gratitude to the UAE for their timely assistance. “We are immensely grateful for the UAE’s compassion and support during this critical time. Their generosity will bring hope and relief to many of our fellow citizens,” said Al-Rais Conding, BFBCI President.
Broader International Support Initiatives
In addition to the UAE’s assistance, the Council is in ongoing communication with Saudi Arabia and the World Muslim League to explore further avenues of assistance for the victims of Typhoon Carina.
This outreach builds on a history of support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2013, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz ordered a $10 million donation for the relief and rehabilitation efforts for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Visayas, demonstrating the Kingdom’s longstanding commitment to aiding the Philippines in times of disaster.
A Bright Future for International Cooperation
These efforts exemplify the power of international cooperation and the deep bonds of friendship between the Philippines and the global community. The BFBCI along with its partner organizations, continues to advocate for and coordinate such essential support. The impact of these initiatives provides hope and relief to countless affected families, reaffirming the importance of international solidarity in times of crisis.
