ILIGAN CITY – To provide safe and decent homes for former rebels in Mindanao, the government held last Dec. 20, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of over 100 houses in Camp Bilal, Munai, Lanao del Norte.
Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), led the groundbreaking ceremony of the housing project intended for former combatants of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Secretary Galvez said this initiative aligns with the commitment of President Ferdinand “BBM” Marcos Jr. to promote human rights for peace in the Bangsamoro region.
Alexander Limbo, a former MILF combatant expressed gratitude to President Marcos Jr. for this program, which allows him to have a home.
The government has allocated P108 million for this project, including the construction of over 100 Housing units in Camp Abubakar, Maguindanao del Norte.
Observers said It is heartening to see efforts being made to provide housing for former rebels and promote peace in the region.
The National Housing Authority (NHA) and other government agencies were also present during the ceremony.
