LGU-Iligan receives regional anti-drug abuse performance award

ILIGAN CITY – The city government of Iligan was acknowledged with a highly functional Level for Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) during the 2024 Regional ADAC Performance Award held recently in Cagayan de Oro.

The Anti-Drug Abuse Council or ADAC Performance Award is given yearly to qualified local government units upon meeting the necessary criteria.

According to Evelyn Madrio, head of the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), one of the criteria for this award is active participation in meetings of the Local Council on Anti-Trafficking, Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC).

LCAT VAWC members include representatives from DEP-ED, DILG, CHO, PNP, PPA, and the Philippine Coastguard.

Councilor Rosevie Queenie Belmonte serves as the Chairperson of LCAT-VAWC.

Another basis for the award is compliance with updated Gender And Development (GAD) code and Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) desk, established in all 44 barangays of the City.

Madrio expressed gratitude for the support provided by Mayor Frederick Siao and the 18th Council, especially Councilor Belmonte, in allocating necessary funds to strengthen the campaign against trafficking and VAWC.

Vice Mayor Marianito Alemania received the award on behalf of LGU-ILIGAN.
